Russian champagne goblet by goldsmith Feodor Ruckert in gilded silver and cloisonne enamels, Moscow 1899-1908, 18 cm high and 6 cm wide. The chalice is decorated with floral motifs and two beautiful stylized eagles and leaves. Some information about the artist: Feodor Ruckert was born in Germany in 1840, at the age of 14 he emigrated to Russia to work for the Yusupov family. In 1886 he opened his workshop in Moscow and a year later he signed a thirty year contract with the Faberge company becoming his main supplier of enamel creations. He produced exceptional glazes on filigree in the traditional Russian style, but mixing Art Nuveau motifs, miniatures based on Russian history, arabesques and leaves, geometric patterns, animal shapes, fairy tales and famous paintings, creating a unique style that is recognizable. He also produced silver for other important goldsmiths at the court of the Tsars, such as Ovchinnikov, Kurlyukov, Bolin. Now his works are visible in many museums and royal collections.
